Excitement is building in Wexford Town as we edge closer to the start of the Wexford Festival Opera.
A spectacular fireworks display over Wexford Harbour will light up the sky as the 75th edition of the event officially gets under way next Thursday.
There will be 17 days of exciting theatrical action featuring some of the world's best in music, drama and comedy.
MC Maurice McCarthy says the kick off event is not to be missed:
"This year is a special one of course and we're really looking forward to it.
"We have a lot of surprises including some entertainment on the main stage from 6:30pm with music from the Ivy Sisters and Rachel Grace among others.
"Boys and girls, be there early because the stage is up and waiting for you!"
Singer Hayley Crosbie says it's the most exciting time of the year for people like her:
"I'm classically trained so I love the opera. Mum and myself went to one of the events last year and I mean it's an excuse to dress up.
"Put on your ball gown and get out there, why not?
"The evenings are getting shorter and we're all looking for something to do so I think it's fantastic."
