The Central Statistics Office will resume publishing crime statistics this morning - introducing the category 'Under Reservation'.
This is to reflect problems with the data used to compile the statistics, and the figures will include revisions going back 15 years. The Gardai have been criticised internally and externally for the misclassification of homicide - with a major review underway. Deputy Commissioner John Twomey says it's welcome that the figures are being published again.
