The executive of the Garda Representative Association is meeting this evening to discuss a proposed deal from the Department of Justice.
It follows meetings over the weekend aimed at averting threatened strike action on Friday. Gardai are planning to 'walk off the job' in an ongoing dispute over pay and conditions. It's reported that the newly proposed deal includes a plan for a €4,000 allowance to be restored to officers, as well as additional pay for time spent briefing colleagues before the start of a new shift.
