Minister for Transport Shane Ross is considering publishing the names of those that are caught drink driving.
The name and shame approach would be similar to the one used for tax defaulters. Over 730 people were arrested for drink driving in December, a 34% increase on the same month last year. Minister Ross described 2016 as a disastrous year on the roads and that stronger measures were needed to keep the public safe.
