Driver Charged After Being Detected at 167km/h on New Ross Bypass

A driver has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving after being detected travelling at 167 kilometres per hour on the New Ross Bypass.

The incident happened on September 20th in an area where the posted speed limit is 100 kilometres per hour.

The driver was therefore travelling 67 kilometres per hour over the speed limit.

Gardaí say the driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and is due to appear before the courts.

The vehicle was also seized after it was found to have no valid NCT.

Gardaí are reminding motorists that speed limits are in place to allow drivers time to react to hazards and to reduce the consequences of a collision.

They are urging all road users to slow down, drive safely and get home alive.
