Nurses appear to be on a collision course with the Health Minister over the latest hospital overcrowding crisis. Leo Varadkar last night said that two extra beds should be placed on hospital wards as it was safer than having up to 40 people on trolleys in Emergency Departments but the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation disagrees. It's spokesperson Liam Doran says the new practice has already been proven not to work at other hospitals and does not address the main issue of overcrowding. It comes as there's been a substantial drop in the number of people left waiting on a trolley - nationally it's down to 371 today from Tuesday's record high of 601. While at Wexford General Hospital numbers are down from 19 yesterday to 12 today.
