Free Energy And EV Expo To Take Place In Enniscorthy

A free Energy and EV Expo is being held in Enniscorthy later this month, aimed at helping homeowners, motorists and businesses make more informed decisions about energy use.

The Wexford Energy & EV Expo will take place at the Astro Active Community Centre in Bellfield on Thursday, October 22nd, from 10.30am to 4pm.

Around 30 exhibitors, expert speakers and local organisations will take part, offering practical advice on home energy efficiency, retrofitting, available grants and supports, electric and hybrid vehicles, business energy use and air quality.

The event is being held in Enniscorthy’s Decarbonisation Zone, which is being used as a test area for a range of climate, biodiversity and energy initiatives.

Clare Kelly, Climate Action Coordinator with Wexford County Council, said the aim is to help people make confident decisions about their own energy journey.

She said common questions include where to start, what measures will work in a particular home and what grants are available.

A dedicated EV panel will take place at 11.30am, where electric vehicle owners will discuss charging, running costs, longer journeys and everyday driving.

A Business Energy panel at 12.30pm will focus on energy efficiency, sustainability and ways businesses can reduce costs.

At 2pm, a homeowner panel will look at the practical experience of retrofitting different types of homes, including the decisions involved, lessons learned and supports available.

The programme will conclude with an air quality session at 3pm, examining the links between home heating, transport, energy use and air quality in Enniscorthy.

Visitors can also book a free 15-minute one-to-one appointment at the Energy Clinic.

Those attending are encouraged to bring an electricity bill, which can be reviewed by an engineer from the South East Energy Agency to identify potential savings and efficiency improvements.

Appointments can be booked by emailing climateaction@wexfordcoco.ie.

Representatives from Wexford County Council, Wexford Local Enterprise Office, SEAI, the South East Energy Agency, UCC and DoneDeal will be among those attending.

Everyone who attends will also be eligible to enter a draw for a €500 energy voucher.

The Wexford Energy & EV Expo takes place on Thursday, October 22nd from 10.30am to 4pm at the Astro Active Community Centre, Bellfield, Enniscorthy.
