Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 60s died in a two-car collision on the R725 at Rath East, Shillelagh, Co. Wicklow, yesterday (Friday) evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:50pm. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been taken to Naas Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. A female passenger from the same vehicle was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny, with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The driver of the second car was also taken to St Luke’s before being transferred to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who was travelling on the R725 near Rath East between 6:00pm and 6:50pm and has dash-cam footage, to come forward.
