Minister James Browne has officially opened the newly renovated Gorey Fire Station on Main Street, a crucial facility serving the town and surrounding district since 1987.
The refurbishment, completed by Suirside Construction, took eight months and includes upgraded amenities such as a new first-floor area, improved staff canteen, lecture facilities, and enhanced showering and drying areas.
The station, which serves a population of over 31,000 across 640 km², is home to 18 personnel and three fire appliances.
The €1 million renovation was fully funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to meet the growing demands of the busy fire brigade.
