Gorey will host Fine Gael’s annual parliamentary party think-in on September 10th and 11th, bringing senior party figures from across the country to North Wexford.
Fine Gael TD for Wicklow-Wexford Brian Brennan says he is delighted the town has been chosen to host the gathering, describing it as a vote of confidence in Gorey.
The two-day meeting will bring Fine Gael Ministers, TDs, Senators and Councillors to the town, with discussions expected to focus on policy development and preparations for the upcoming Budget.
Deputy Brennan said he hopes hosting the event in a large rural town will help ensure issues affecting communities outside Dublin remain central to those discussions.
He said he also plans to give party members the opportunity to meet local businesses, public services and constituents during their time in Gorey.
“I am delighted that Gorey has been chosen to host this meeting, which is something that I have pushed extremely hard for,” Deputy Brennan said.
“It is a real vote of confidence in our town that it has been selected for such an important meeting of the party.”
He said the gathering would also provide an opportunity to showcase Gorey and North Wexford to Government representatives from across the country.
“The focus of the meeting will be very much on developing crucial policies and discussing items for the upcoming Budget, and I would hope that the presence in Gorey, a large town in rural Ireland, will have an influence on some of these decisions.”
Deputy Brennan added that he hopes the think-in will provide a boost to the local economy, particularly for retail and hospitality businesses.
He said the event will also allow him to reinforce the importance of continued investment in rural Ireland and ensuring towns such as Gorey have the support needed to grow and thrive.
