A County Wexford care centre for people with disabilities has been singled out in a HIQA report released today.
The report found that the residents of Highwater Lodge had been receiving harsh punishments for misbehaviour by their carers This involved the removal of personal items, restriction of food items and fining of residents. The report followed an unannounced visit to the centre which opened last year. It also found that centre failed in areas relating to resident safety in particular fire safety. The Director of Services at the centre declined to comment when contacted by South East Radio News.
