Home economics should be made mandatory as a junior cert subject according to a new report on obesity.
It’s one of 20 recommendations from a Committee which looked into tackling childhood obesity. 1 in 4 thirteen-year-olds in Ireland are overweight or obese. The report also recommends banning vending machines in schools and preventing new fast food outlets opening near schools.
