Temperatures are set to climb to around 28 degrees in parts of the country today, with the southeast expected to see the warmest and sunniest conditions.
A Status Yellow high temperature warning remains in place nationwide until Friday morning, as the public is urged to take care during the warm spell.
The HSE has advised people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak hours, and check on vulnerable individuals such as older people and young children.
Meanwhile, much of western Europe is experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures reaching up to 44 degrees in France. Heat warnings are also in place across parts of Italy, Spain, and the UK as authorities warn of continued extreme conditions.
Met Éireann says the current spell of warm weather is expected to peak before easing later in the week.
