8 million contraband cigarettes have been seized in Wexford. The "Aroma" brand cigarettes are worth more than 4.2 million euro, with a potential loss to the Exchequer of around 3.3 million. They were seized yesterday following searches of a number of premises in the Enniscorthy area, by Revenue officers acting on intelligence. The cigarettes had arrived into Dublin Port from Vietnam, via Rotterdam, last Friday in a container consigned as 'Garden Furniture'. It brings the total number of cigarettes seized so far this year to more than 36 million.
