Irish insurance companies are to fund a new garda fraud unit.
The specialist unit will target car insurance fraud and cost in the region of one million euro to set up. Motorists are paying an average of €50 on their policy to cover the cost of fraudulent claims. Declan Jackson, Director of Government Affairs with Insurance Ireland says it will take time to get it right.
