Investigation underway following enniscorthy break-in
Gardai in Enniscorthy are investigating an overnight break-in at a house on the outskirts of the town. Thieves gained entry to the house but fled shortly afterwards following the alarm system being set off. The robbery took place at the home of well known businessman and journalist Jimmy Gahan and his wife Doctor Mairead Kelly. A gas cylinder was used to smash through french doors at the rear of the property at Salville, Enniscorthy shortly after 8pm last night. The activation of the property's security system alerted Gadai and they were at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised. Officers will today examine CCTV images taken from cameras at the house in an effort to identify the person or persons responsible. A number of rooms in the house were ransacked but nothing of value is thought to have been stolen.
