Irish house prices continue to rise
Dublin house prices have risen by nearly 18 percent in the year to the end of April. The the latest property price index from the CSO also sees significant price increases nationally up by 8.5 per cent over the last 12 months. Business Journalist Ian Guider says there was a sluggish start to the year, but prices in Dublin are rising sharply. "In Dublin house prices up by 3 percent in the month of April, and nearly 18 percent up on the year" he said. "Everybody points out to the shortage of family homes in the city and that is very true". "But what the problem really is now is we're not building quick enough - and because we're not building quickly quick enough prices are going to go up further" he added.
