The Kennedy Summer School gets underway in New Ross today, bringing together leading voices from politics, journalism, academia, culture and sport for three days of debate and discussion.
This year’s programme explores a wide range of topics, including Ireland-US relations, global competitiveness, American politics, online safety, literature, music and the future of hurling.
Hurling will feature prominently on the opening night, with the “Talking Hurling” panel bringing together former Offaly hurler and RTÉ GAA analyst Michael Duignan, GAA National Head of Hurling William Maher, Wexford hurling legend Tom Dempsey and former All-Ireland camogie winner Ursula Jacob.
The Summer School will also feature Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States, Geraldine Byrne Nason, writers including Belinda McKeon and Martina Evans, and a wide range of speakers from Ireland and abroad.
The event runs from August 27th to 29th, with Saturday’s events already sold out and limited tickets remaining for some of the Thursday and Friday programmes.
