Wexford County Council will board up the windows and doors of Kerlogue House to stop people trespassing in the area.
Squatters have set up on the grounds of the stately home which has been lying vacant since 2008.
It's understood many living at the site have been turned away from other homeless and addiction services
Neighbours of the property have asked for the council's assistance due to the threat of fire and overgrown vegetation in the area.
Senior Engineer Lar Lett told this month's Wexford Borough District meeting they will ensure there are no hazards on the site.
The house is still at the centre of discussions between the council and the owner over its current state of dereliction.
The building is a protected structure and therefore normal vacancy levies can't be applied despite it's dilapadated condition.
Councillors have asked that the district put in works to keep the building safe but have warned that the borough should not bear the burden of the costs and these should be passed onto the owner.
Mr Lett says they will allow the planning enforcement team to do their duties and says the owner will be informed they must recoup the costs themselves.
