Kilkenny is set to fight what it describes as a land grab by Waterford.
Recommendations by the boundary Commission would mean the transfer of six thousand hectares of land from Kilkenny to Waterford. The land is situated just north of Waterford city between the existing city border and the river Suir. Around four thousand five hundred people live in the transfer area and the plan is causing uproar among them as they feel proud Kilkenny people. Kilkenny Councillors and elected TDs are vowing to fight the plan on the streets and in the courts.
