Town and Village Renewal Scheme Now Open For 2026

Communities can now submit Expressions of Interest to the Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2026.

The project supports the revitalisation of rural Ireland through an ongoing focus on town and village centre regeneration.

Applicants can be awarded up to €500,000 for measures like bringing back vacant buildings, introducing green spaces and refurbishing community centres in their area.

The minimum grant made available will be €50,000 which could be used to develop recreational amenities or fund public realm works.

The Department of Rural and Community Development says their focus is currently on funding projects in areas with fewer than 5,000 people with these groups set to receive at least 60% of the overall funding available.

Wexford County Council is warning that only one application can be submitted in respect of any individual town/village, including towns that may be under the remit of more than one local authority. 

Forms for the scheme can be found on the council's website the the application process will close on the 4th of November.
