George Lawlor has been elected the first Mayor of the new Borough district of Wexford. The labour councillor was previously the Mayor of Wexford Borough Council before the town councils were abolished and the local elections were held last month. His deputy mayor was also elected today with Fine Gael's Frank Staples taking the position. Councillor Lawlor says there are a number of projects coming on stream in Wexford town including natural gas - which he says will bring more jobs to the area.
