A local man got a surprise brush with musical theatre royalty at the weekend after bumping into legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber in Fethard, County Tipperary.
The man behind some of the biggest stage musicals in the world, including The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar, was pictured enjoying some time away while attending the festival in Fethard.
Among those who crossed paths with him was local musician Joe Davitt who managed to stop for a chat and a photograph with the world-famous composer.
Lloyd Webber, whose career has spanned more than five decades, is one of the most successful figures in musical theatre and has written some of the best-known songs and shows ever staged in London’s West End and on Broadway.
His appearance in Fethard certainly caused a stir among festival-goers with the unexpected celebrity sighting quickly attracting attention.
For Joe though it was simply a case of being in the right place at the right time — and coming home from the weekend with a story considerably more glamorous than most!
