The long-awaited New Ross Primary Care Centre has moved a significant step closer to becoming a reality, with confirmation that a preferred site and bidder have now been identified.
Independent Ireland Finance Spokesperson Councillor Michael Sheehan says he has received written confirmation from the HSE that the project is progressing through the final stages of the approval process.
The development has been eagerly awaited in New Ross, with hopes that the new facility will improve access to primary healthcare services for the town and surrounding communities.
However, Cllr Sheehan has cautioned that the project has not yet received final approval.
Further checks must be completed before the proposal can be submitted for approval by the HSE Board.
He says he is hopeful that an official announcement could be made in November, although this may slip into December depending on the remaining approval process.
While a preferred site and bidder have been identified, the location has not yet been publicly confirmed in the information provided.
The latest development represents an important step forward for the long-awaited healthcare project, although a final decision is still outstanding.
