A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting his sleeping partner at their Co. Wexford home in October 2022.
The man was convicted after a trial in the Central Criminal Court, where he was acquitted of rape and the jury was unable to reach a verdict on other sexual assault charges.
The woman, who had rejected his advances woke to find him assaulting her.
The court heard the lasting emotional impact on the woman.
Despite the man’s claim of innocence, he was sentenced to three years, with six months suspended for 18 months to support rehabilitation.
