Memorial service held to mark atomic bombing of hiroshima
A memorial service has been held in Hiroshima, the Japanese city where the US dropped the atomic bomb 70 years ago today. The blast is credited with ending the Second World War, but it killed 140,000 people. Speaking through a translator, Kimie Mihara says she was on her way to work when she narrowly escaped the explosion. "I survived because I was late, so I feel lucky because I was not here on time" she said. "But when I think of those who were killed because they were diligent and on time, I'm just so sorry for them - I feel bad for them" she added.
