Mick Wallace Discusses Iran Visit & Recent Award

Former Wexford TD and former MEP Mick Wallace has spoken exclusively to South East Radio about his recent visit to Iran, where he was honoured with a “Right Side of History Award”.

Speaking to Alan Corcoran on Morning MIx Mick Wallace reflected on meetings with families affected by conflict and described conversations with people who had lost loved ones during recent events in the region.

He said his experiences reinforced his criticism of US and Western foreign policy and argued that greater historical context was needed to understand current tensions in the Middle East.

Wallace also addressed criticism of Iran’s human rights record during the interview, acknowledging that no country is without flaws but arguing that Iran had been unfairly portrayed internationally.

Discussing the award, Wallace said he was honoured to receive the recognition but added that he felt others had done more than he had.

The interview also explored wider questions around media coverage, democracy and international politics, with Wallace encouraging people to form their own views by engaging directly with different perspectives.
