Fianna Fail says it makes "no sense" that the Minister for Agriculture's scheme to address the fodder crisis only covers dairy co-ops.
The party thinks the scheme needs to be extended to all co-ops and private feed merchants. Imported fodder began to arrive in Rosslare Europort yesterday and will continue over the next few days. Michael Creed announced yesterday that €1.5 million will go toward the importation of animal feed to help farmers deal with shortages. South East Radio farming correspondent Michael Doyle will be addressing the problem on Farming Forum tonight on South East Radio at 8 O'Clock.
