Mixed reaction to deal on iran nuclear programme

There has been a mixed reaction to a deal between the international community and Iran over it's nuclear programme. Israel has said it threatens its survival, whilst US President Barack Obama has described it has historic. The deal means Iran will have to allow inspections of its nuclear sites in return for a partial lifting of economic sanctions. The Guardian's diplomatic editor, Julian Borger, says those opposed to the deal - such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and US Republicans - were unrealistic in their expectations. "it's hard to imagine that deal that would have been acceptable, because really what they were calling for was a complete capitulation by Iran - and that was really never on the cards" he said. "It was clear, at least to the Obama administration and to many analysts of Iran, that it was never going to be pushed into capitulation - that it would come to war before that" he added.
