More than 200 vacant and derelict properties in County Wexford have been brought back into use through the Government’s Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.
New figures released by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne show that 205 grants have been paid out in Wexford with more than €11 million in funding issued to date.
The scheme which was introduced in July 2022 provides financial support to refurbish vacant or derelict homes and return them to active use.
In County Wexford, 623 applications have been submitted with 463 approved so far.
Nationally, more than 6,300 homes have now been restored through the scheme with €348.6 million in grants issued.
The latest figures show that 14,377 applications have been approved across the country with an average of six previously vacant properties being brought back into use every working day.
Minister James Browne said the grant is playing an important role in tackling vacancy and increasing the supply of available homes.
The Government says the scheme continues to support homeowners, communities and local authorities in bringing empty properties back into use.
