National Breastfeeding Week ran from October 1st to 7th, highlighting the support available to mothers and the benefits of breastfeeding.
As part of the week, we spoke about the realities of breastfeeding, the challenges mothers can face and the importance of having the right advice and support available.
We were joined by Public Health Nurse Specialist in Lactation Aoife Kehoe, who explained the support available to mothers and answered some of the common questions around breastfeeding.
We also heard directly from two mums about their own experiences Marcia, who was breastfeeding her twins Rosie and Katie, and Ashley, mum to baby Dani.
The discussion looked at the different breastfeeding journeys mothers can have, the importance of practical and emotional support, and where mothers can turn for help and advice.
