New ross man arrested in india carrying gold bars
A County Wexford man has been arrested in India. The arrest took place on Monday after he arrived in the country allegedly carrying 10kgs of gold. 42 year-old Edwin Minihan is a native of New Ross and was arrested at Kochi International Airport after arriving in India on a flight from Dubai where he works. Indian police allege the Wexford man had ten gold bars hidden in his jacket waistcoat and pants valued at around 340,000 euro. He was stopped at a customs check in the arrivals hall where the 24 carat gold bars were discovered. Edwin Minihan has been working in Dubai for the past nine years as a sales director for Tango Telecom, a company which has its headquarters in Limerick. Its understood Irish embassy officials in New Delhi have been in contact with his family in New Ross who are quoted as saying what has happened to him is "unbeliveably horrific". Edwin Minihan is a married father of one.
