Nurses organisation issues a stark warning to the government
The Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation says staffing cutbacks are leaving nurses unable to properly care for their patients. Its issued a warning to the government today, after the latest HSE figures show the extent of this year's cutbacks. Over eight hundred nursing and midwifery positions were axed in the first ten months of this year. The union also claims almost three-quarters of those jobs were in frontline services. General Secretary of the organisation Liam Doran, says care standards are slipping because there aren't enough workers.
