Oireachtas to back unrestricted abortion up to 12 weeks

The Oireachtas is going to give its backing to unrestricted abortion up to 12 weeks into pregnancy later.

Its committee reviewing the 8th Amendment has decided our laws are too strict. It's final report is published today - but it won't be debated till after the Christmas holidays. A referendum on the issue is expected next summer.
