On Saturday, February 28th, 153 Scouts, Ventures, and Rovers from across Ireland were honoured with the prestigious Chief Scout Award at a ceremony held at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Royal Hospital Kilmainham. This award is the highest youth achievement within Scouting Ireland, recognising years of dedication, leadership, and service to local communities. Among the recipients was Josh Corrigan from the 29th Wexford Scout Group, who spent nine weeks supporting an elderly woman in Oulart with household chores, gardening, and helping her navigate mobile phone accessibility features to maintain her independence.
Scouts who earn the Chief Scout Award undertake rigorous challenges that test their resilience, teamwork, and ability to make a positive impact. From environmental projects to community support, these young people demonstrate exceptional commitment through hundreds of hours of voluntary work. Chief Scout Eoin Callinan and CEO Seán Sheehan congratulated the recipients, highlighting their dedication to personal growth and community service. This year’s awards also marked a collaboration with Gaisce and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, recognising young people’s achievements on a national and international scale
