Over €7,531,000 for 3,458 Wexford farmers under the Eco-Scheme – Minister James Browne

Fianna Fáil Minister James Browne has welcomed the allocation of over €7,531,000 to farmers in Wexford under the Eco-Scheme, announced today by the Minister for Agriculture . The Eco-Scheme, part of Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, rewards farmers for implementing measures that protect and enhance the climate, environment, water quality and biodiversity. Minister Browne said: “Farmers are the backbone of our economy and our rural communities. They deliver world-class produce that supports international trade, and it is essential that they are supported in doing so. He added: “In Fianna Fáil, we remain firmly committed to supporting farmers and the agri-food sector. The Eco-Scheme is one of the key levers that ensures vital farm payments are not just protected but strengthened into the future.” Minister Browne highlighted that the 2025 Eco-Scheme rate will be €66 per hectare, describing it as  “a vital support for family farms ” and reaffirmed Fianna Fáil’s commitment to a strong Common Agricultural Policy. “The payment rate of €66 per eligible hectare will provide meaningful support to over 110,000 farmers nationwide, including 3,458 here in Wexford. Fianna Fáil is steadfast in our support for a strong CAP that works for farmers, and we will continue to champion this at EU level,” he said. Concluding, Minister Browne confirmed that payments will begin issuing from today. “Farmers across the constituency who applied to the scheme will see payments appearing in their bank accounts from today and over the coming days. I would also encourage anyone with outstanding documentation to complete it as soon as possible to ensure prompt payment.”
