Pac to supply transcript of evidence to garda whistleblower
The Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has made a u-turn on whether to give a garda whistleblower a transcript of his own evidence. The Committee has overturned its decision of last week not to give Sergeant Maurice McCabe a copy of the document about alleged corruption in the penalty points system. The TDs will now ask the Dáil Committee on Procedure and Privileges to rule on whether it can release a transcript of its private hearing. Committee chairman John McGuinness says he wants a ruling as soon as possible. "We have asked the CPP to act immediately on our request, because there are further decisions to be made on this matter in relation to our final report - and the request that's before the Committee from the witness" he said.
