Quinn says government have full confidence in gsoc
The government has confidence in GSOC including its chairman. That is according to the Education Minister who was responding to an interview with his cabinet colleague Alan Shatter last night. The Justice Minister expressed his confidence in the Garda Ombudsman Commission but did not mention chairman Simon O'Brien by name. Alan Shatter is going to appear before the Oireachtas Public Service Oversight Committee next week to answer questions about the alleged surveillance at the Ombudsman headquarters in Dublin. Minister Ruairi Quinn says that inquiry is important. "We the government have full confidence - I personally have confidence in GSOC, including the chairman Mr. O'Brien - and also the Garda Siochana" he said. "What I do welcome is the fact that the...relevant Committee in the Oireachtas will continue to conduct its inquiries" he added.
