Rajoy orders spanish senate to depose catalan leader

Spain's prime minister has asked the country's senate for the go-ahead to depose the Catalan leader.

Mariano Rajoy wants to stop Carles Puigdemont and his executive from declaring independence. Catalonia's own parliament will meet later - a day after a snap election was ruled out.
