Record number of passport applications in 2016

There's been a record demand for Irish passports this year with 740 thousand successful applications.

One in six requests were made by citizens from the North or from Britain, prompting speculation that Brexit boosted demand. The Olympic Games and the Euro 2016 tournament in France are also believed to have contributed.
