Roadworks Extended Into The New Year At Bargy Commons

A road closure in place at the Bargy Commons has been extended until early next year.

Works are currently underway on the L-30442-1 which connects the New Line to the Forth Celtic football club.

These works began on the 14th of August and were due to finish on Friday.

However further works are needed and Wexford County Council says the road will now be closed until the 31st of January next year.

Diversions will be signposted and local access will be facilitated.

It's the second major closure of the same road this year as the area was also blocked off to traffic between Thursday 19 February to Tuesday 31 March to facilitate trenching and ducting works at Bargy Commons.

Trenching and ducting works will also take place at the nearby Shelmalier Commons next month.

Wexford County Council says the works are due to begin on the L3026-1, close to Forth Mountain, on the 21st of October and run until the 31st of March.

Works will also be carried out on the L70421-1, near the Carrigfoyle Quarry, during the same time frame.

Drivers are being warned to make alternative arrangements in advance of these works coming into effect in a few weeks time.
