Rosslare Coastal Erosion Plan To Be Discussed At Event This Month

Rosslare Strand residents will get the chance to have their say on the area's coastal erosion plan at an event this month.

Wexford County Council will host a Public Participation Day for all interested parties on the emerging preferred option for erosion protection on the Rosslare Strand side of the Rosslare Coastal Erosion and Flood Relief Scheme.

Attendees can put questions about the project to council officials and to the Nicholas O'Dwyer group, one of Ireland's largest engineering and environmental consultancies.

The event will be held at the Coast Rosslare Strand Hotel at 4pm on Thursday the 20th of August.

The council says the feedback gained at this event is important and will help inform potential refinements to the design.

Since the 1950's a series of coastal protection measures have been introduced at various sections along the coastline to reduce the rate of erosion.

This current project first started rolling back in 2019 when Risk Management Studies were carried out by Wexford County Council.

Nicholas O'Dwyer were brought on in December of 2021 to develop, design, and construct the scheme.

It's hoped the planning process proper will start in Q2 of 2028 with the full completion of the project by 2031.

This will be the second Public Participation Day with the first being held back in December 2024.

Those that can't attend on the day can view the exhibition material and questionnaire from 4pm on 20 August on the project website, and completed questionnaires can be submitted by email.
