The latest Met Éireann Climate Statement has been published, showing last month was the wettest month of the year so far, and wetter and cooler than average for September. September 2025 brought above-average rainfall and below-average temperatures across Wexford, according to the latest climate report from Met Éireann. Johnstown Castle saw a wet September, with 161.3 mm of rain, making it nearly twice the normal rainfall for the month. The wettest day was Friday 19th, when 31 mm of rain fell. Overall, the station recorded 25 days of rain during the month. Temperatures were below average across the county, with Johnstown Castle seeing an average temperature of 13.8°C, 0.3°C below the norm. It was also the coolest September in recent years, with frosty conditions reported, particularly on Monday 22nd, when grass minimums hit -4.4°C. On a brighter note, sunshine hours in Wexford were above average. Johnstown Castle enjoyed 160.8 hours of sunshine, with the sunniest day being Monday 22nd, which saw 11.1 hours of bright sunshine. Wexford's weather in September was marked by persistent rain, cooler temperatures, and plenty of sunshine, providing a mixed but typical Irish autumn experience.
