South East Technological University (SETU) has achieved a significant milestone with the accreditation of its new five-year Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) programme by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI). The programme, which will be available to students in the southeast, addresses the growing demand for pharmacy professionals across Ireland, as highlighted by the PSI and the Irish Pharmacy Union. Professor Veronica Campbell, President of SETU, expressed pride in the accreditation, noting that it enhances the University’s role in healthcare education and development. The MPharm programme, which will admit its first cohort in 2026, will equip students with the skills needed for modern pharmacy practice, combining science, professional experience and research. Dr Claire Lennon, Head of SETU’s Department of Pharmacy, highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the programme's development, which included input from pharmacy professionals across community, hospital and industry settings. The curriculum includes hands-on learning through placements, ensuring graduates are ready to meet the evolving needs of the pharmacy sector.
