Sheep shearing championships underway in gorey
Day 1 of the Golden Shears World Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships is underway in Gorey. 102 competitors are taking part in the event at Knockmullen which has officially been launched by the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney. Thousands of people are expected to visit the "Olympics of Shearing" which runs until Sunday. The latest on the traffic situation is that the car park opposite the Knockmullen site is now full, however the car park at the Ballycanew roundabout is open as is the car park between Tesco and Dunnes Stores. Bus transport is operating from the Ballycanew car park to Knockmullen.
