'superbug' resistant to antibiotics detected on irish beaches

Concerns have been raised after a form of superbug - resistant to even the most powerful antibiotics - was detected at two Irish beaches.

Researchers in Galway say there is a higher risk of the NDM enzyme being found wherever raw sewage is pumped into coastal waters. The discovery is thought to be a first for European bathing water but there's no evidence to suggest anyone has been infected by exposure to the enzyme.
