Acting Garda Commissioner Donal O'Cualain and two of his assistant commissioners were in Wexford yesterday to lead the tributes for Wexford's most senior Garda who retires from the force on Monday.
John Roche was guest of honour at a reception in the Talbot Hotel during which many warm tributes were paid. He served as a member of the force for 40 years and was stationed in 14 different areas. He has been a part of the Wexford division for the last decade and played a huge role in helping develop community policing in the town and helped get the new Garda Station at Mulgannon built. Commissioner O'Cualain praised Superintendent Roche saying he always helped to put the community first in his duties.
