The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Wexford says rising energy and fuel prices are having a major impact on households already struggling with the cost of living.
Ahead of its nationwide summer collection this weekend, the charity says older people, those living with disabilities, one-parent families, and single-person households are among those most affected, as rising overheads continue to stretch already tight budgets.
Speaking on Morning Mix, Mary Dempsey from SVP highlighted the knock-on effects of increases in oil and energy prices, saying many people are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with essential household costs.
The charity says single-person households are particularly vulnerable, as they often face the same fixed costs as larger households but without the benefit of shared expenses.
SVP is urging the public to support its summer collection this weekend, as demand for its services continues to grow across Wexford.
