Taoiseach: gay marriage not most important issue to him
The Taoiseach's revealed he's at odds with the Tánaiste over the issue of gay marriage. Enda Kenny says while he supports the holding of a referendum and that he will campaign for it to be passed it is not the biggest issue on his mind. Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore says gay marriage is the civil rights issue of our time. And the Government's agreed to hold a referendum on teh issue - probably in 15 or 16 months time. But Enda Kenny says for him, he would not be in agreement with the importance of it as an issue in society, he says his focus is more on employment and job creation. The issue is likely to get discussed at each of the coalition parties Parliamentary Party meetings on several occasions before the Government decides how to proceed.
