Temporary Car Park Opened By Council In Rosslare Strand

A new temporary car park has opened up in Rosslare Strand to help accommodate more visitors to the area this summer.

Wexford County Council has opened the facility on Station Road just below the train station and it is now available to the public.

Parking is free and it's hoped wardens will be on hand to ensure the operation of the facility runs smoothly especially during the warm sunny days we've experienced recently.

Previously, residents of the area complained about cars parking on footpaths and kerbs during busy times with a lack of enforcement of the parking rules by local Gardai.

Traffic management in the area has also been an issue in the past due to the large number of visiting vehicles that descend there to visit the beach and other local amenities.

The works on the temporary car park were carried out by DLM Groundworks Ltd. on behalf of Wexford County Council and will provide much-needed additional parking in the popular seaside village.

A message on the council's social media channels says "we hope this additional parking will help support local businesses, visitors and the wider community, particularly during busy periods."

That report was funded by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.
